The Visidot Field Of View Calculator Tool is designed to determine the following aspects of a Visidot project:
  • Number of cameras required per side
  • Optimal Distance for locating the pallet
  • Maximum Depth Of Field allowed
Code Input
    The basic input for these calculations is the codes that the system is required to detect & decode.
    The resolution of the code is a key factor to determine the number of cameras to be used per side.
    In case of multiple code types, the code the code with minimal module size \ minimal number of pixels per module should be taken into account.
    The user will enter all the relevant data regarding the codes.
    General Input
      The next step is to enter the general information regarding the project:
      • Required Field Of View.
      • Camera: Select proper camera depending whether assets should be read while they are moving or stationary.
        In stationary configuration cameras may be positioned side by side, while for motion configuration cameras will always be in a single column.
      • Lens: The lens focal length enables to modify the distance between the camera and the codes. Smaller focal length refers to shorter distance.
        Note that, shorter focal length may increase the number of cameras, especially when DOF is large.

      These parameters determine the number of cameras and the configuration of the solution.
      In case pallet parameters are different on each side, calculation should be done separately per each side.
    Output
      The results of the calculation are the number of cameras required per side, and the valid distance range to position the pallet.
      The user has to make sure that the distance range fulfills the project requirements.
      The user can modify the results and exercise "what if?" scenarios, by moving the sliders and checking the implication on the results.
